Still Cant Build Your Email List?

July 25, 2009

maillistStill Cant Build Your Email List ?

Are you having trouble building your email list or are your opt-ins opt-in out….. Most gurus recommend bombarding your list every day with poor quality affiliate products…..once you get a 100 or so on your list. WRONG !!!!

They can do this because there list is so big usually 100000+ if they alienate a few thousand followers they don’t really care, the sales are the more important…..

As a newbie you HAVE TO build trust and look after your list by giving them good value products…..

Yes you do have to email them to make money but only do this when they are happy with what you have given them.

Spend less time thinking of SELLING to them and more time how you can GIVE them something….

Yes it sounds strange and you think i must be mad and you will never make any money this way…… WRONG

My Coaching & Mentor, Alex Jeffreys (newbie guru) made over $300,000 last year using the very same principles as i am doing and what i am telling you to do.

Let me tell you a story…just over 8 months ago i started in internet marketing and built a small list 100 or so and thought this is easy.. then i bombarded my list with every great looking 75% commission product i could find..

GUESS WHAT… i made a few sales but my list shrunk and i was getting less than a 1% read rate. Now using these methods i have described here, i get on average a 23% read rate, which is an amazing increase in readers and sales !!

So spend more time providing your email list with value and give them a reason to open your emails and you too will be stunned by the results.

So true, give your subscribers a reason to open your mailings and they will. I know that I tend to delete mailings from those who spam sale messages. Mind you, I’ve unsubscribed from most that are like that.

You’re my favorite Mark and such and inspiration to me. I am so glad that I met you in Alex Jeffrey’s Marketing With Alex Mentorship program.

Because you, your ideas, your advice, your help with my blog, and your posts are so valuable to me and I want you to know, I do every single thing that you tell me.

It’s almost like, yes, I am Alex’s student, but your student, too.

Hope to “echat” soon,
Karen

Hi karen,

Likewise, without meeting you i would not have decided to share my help and advice with others so soon.

I am just passing on things that i have learnt on my way, your writing skills and articles that you have supplied for me for my up and coming newsletter are just first class.

As i said yesterday to you, i think you should spend every other day posting on your bog at http://www.karenkalata.com and the other days driving traffic towards your blog in the way i suggested.

talk soon,

Hi Rod,

So many newbie internet marketers are trying to SELL something…. Take a look at some of the new Alex Jeffreys Students Blogs, you will see banner ads, affiliate links etc.

This is after just a couple of weeks…… Unfortunately there new readers may well get alienated by the hard sell, and not even bother reading the good content that may be on there blog.

I can understand wanting to earn a few bucks back quick….. However to earn a regular sustainable income it does not work…. I Have BEEN there and done that mistake.

If you are going to put some affiliate links etc on your blogs i would suggest just a couple of TEXT links in the sidebar.

Thanks Rod for the visit and love more comments….

Hey Mark,

Love the video… although it took a while to buffer… but sometimes that happens anyway, may be just me!

Love the space age feel of your site… pretty sweet!

I’ll put you on my regular blig-read rotation…

11 Paul Lear 07.26.09 at 11:24 pm

Hi Mark,

I totally agree with the principal of giving value to your list first, it does sound strange to some, but you only have to look at Alex’s success to see that it works. It’s all about giving lots of value & building a relationship with your list first. Then later on those people who have become your followers, will be much more likely to buy through your link when you recommend a good product to them, that you’ve reviewed.

Almost forgot to mention, great welcome video. I’m at the point you were at for a while, worrying about what to say. I think I’ll have to have a few practices & write a short script & learn what I want to say, I’ll get it done sooner or later though. I’m mainly looking into driving traffic at the moment though.

Take care, & I’ll probably see you around the forum.

Paul.

Hi Mark,
Great post…so, so true! If I sign up on someones list & then start getting an email every day(even every couple of days)trying to sell me something…I am off of that list SO FAST!!! :-)

I ’see’ your name all of the time…always helping people in our class-what a wonderful thing that is! Mark, keep up the great work-I wish you the best!
Take care,
Joann

15 Roger 07.27.09 at 1:55 pm

Hi Mark – the others here before me have said it all really. I guess it really can be that “Less is more”. And I guess what it’s all about is not so much having a big list as having a responsive list. I think that’s what we should all be aiming for.

All the best,

Roger

Hi Joann,

yes to often newbie’s slam there list with any thing to mack a quick buck…. Internet marketing is building a bussiness and givin your list MUCH MORE VALUE than they expect from you, always over deliver and your list will be loyal to you.

Yes i have now helped many of the new Alex Jeffreys 2.0 Students with there blogs and list-building and traffic driving.

You will be pleased to know i shall be releasing a FREE newsletter called ” Coaching newbies” that any of the students can give away to build there list.

The newsletter is full of useful tips and advice to help you grow your business… I have lots of articles from many of the students from the course.

Will talk to you soon i hope, and don’t forget if you get stuck with any of the modules just post a question on my blog or contact me .

22 Mark Terrell 07.27.09 at 3:45 pm

Hi roger,

If you build a cold list and they are not responsive when you send your offers no on reads them…… You can have a list of 10000 but if you have not been offering great value in the past and giving loads of videos and books with top content thats helps, you will not earn very much.

If on the other hand you sell say a $7 ebook and GIVE away a video on the same subject for free, as a bonus.. when you send out a email again a lot more subscribers will open your emails !!!.

Hi Mark
You have spent so time on your blog, it is looking great well done. I am still struggling with online marketing, so I am mixing it will offline and are getting some success at last. I have had a lot of experience in MLM in the 90s and got to a good income just to see it go down the drain because of new laws on a certain product back then. We are working with Monavie now who are now about to launch in the UK and Europe after their US success.
But its nice to see your still helping the newbies for free. Keep up the good work.
Best Regards
Dave

Mark,
Very good point you make. After all you wouldn’t try and sell something to your friends everytime you saw them would you? If you did you wouldn’t have any…..

Like any type of business, It’s all about relationships. You often have to visit a prospective client 5-6 times before making a sale. You should think of your email list as a prosective client.

Help them to identify their need, and over time show them how you can help them.

Great Work,

Rob

Hi Mark,

Gee, you sound and appear so different to my “mind image” of you. Strange huh? We all have these pre-conceived notions about what people look and sound like that we seem to gather from all over the place – most of which is incorrect – LOL.

Nice intro video. It adds a personal touch and helps people get to know you. Like I indicated, I have sort-of known you for about 8 months but never heard your voice or seen anything more than static pics and read your comments on blogs and forums.

I am putting up a lot of videos soon about the Las Vegas IM trip that many of us went on back in May/June this year. I have the first one up already. In them I am trying to give some good Internet Marketing tips and also show off a fair bit of the Sin City scenery (nice alliteration there, huh?).

I didn’t realise it at the time of shooting but… towards the end of the first video a truck passes by in the background and the banner on the side is just so funny. I really laughed when I reviewed the footage and saw it – just SO typical of all that is Vegas. take a look and you’ll see what I mean – I’ve annotated it with a bubble comment on the video so you can’t miss it – not that anyone would.

Well done here. Catch you over at the forum, or somewhere.

Hi Mark,

Some great tips in this post and I will be sure not bombard my list with offers every five minutes. I’d much rather give them something for free which can make me some money somewhere in the backend.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I like your video. You seem very confident in front of the camera and you get your point across very well.

I am still yet to do my intro video!

Keep in touch.

Nice welcome video. It’s always nice to be able to put a voice and face together and tie it to your blog. It just makes it much more personal.

This is something I need to do on my blog that I just keep putting off. I need to put something on my About Me page. I guess I’m following in our mentor’s footsteps as Alex still doesn’t have anything in his About Me page either.
